VIENNA TOWNSHIP (WJRT) (12/29/2017) - A 27-year-old woman is facing a drunken driving charge after a crash in Vienna Township early Friday morning that killed a Clio man.
The woman was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck north on Saginaw Road just after midnight when a 1998 Buick LeSabre traveling southbound turned left onto Hayward Drive in front of her.
The Silverado slammed into the passenger side of the Buick. Both people inside were pinned in and had to be extricated by the Clio Area Fire Department.
The 52-year-old Clio man riding on the passenger side of the Buick was pronounced dead on the scene. The 64-year-old Clio man driving the Buick was transported to Hurley Medical Center, where he was listed in fair condition later Friday.
The 27-year-old woman driving the Silverado was treated and released at Hurley Medical Center before the Genesee County Sheriff's Office took her into custody.
The woman, who was not identified, remained in custody late Friday on a charge of operating while intoxicated causing death. She hadn't been arraigned by Friday evening.
The investigation into the crash was continuing Friday evening. Anyone with information about the incident was asked to call the sheriff's office at 810-257-3422.
