STAPLETON, Neb. (KNOP) -- There are many excellent places for tourists to visit in Nebraska to witness the solar eclipse. However, Stapleton and the Logan County Fairgrounds are quickly becoming a popular destination for people to go to.
Jose Otero, his wife Esther Perez and their children are from Spain. They traveled to Stapleton to see the solar eclipse.
Otero and Perez first saw a total solar eclipse in 1999 in France. Since then, they have been looking forward to seeing another one. Now, they are excited to share the very special experience with their children.
They family is staying with Heather and Jess Harwager in Stapleton. Otero and Perez are grateful for their hospitality, and said they feel very comfortable in the United States.
"It's been a really great trip," Otero said with a big smile on his face. "Everything is going well. .... Everybody is so kind and we (know a lot) about American culture because of the movies and the books and the songs. We really feel comfortable here."
Otero and Perez said their plans for the solar eclipse are up in the air. They are not sure yet where they are going to watch it from.
