BAY COUNTY (WJRT) - (06/25/16) - Some special four legged friends have new homes and their new families got a break to help bring them home.
The Bay County Animal Control Shelter waived regular adoption fees Saturday.
Nine dogs and several dozen cats were eligible.
Many of the animals ended up finding a forever home with families eager to give them a new life.
The group "Shelter Angels" partnered with Bay County for today's "Clear The Shelter" event.
"It was just a way to get people here to see what the shelter is now versus what it was a few years back. Our adoption rates have gone up which is a positive thing so we thought this would be a way to open up the shelter and say come on -- see what we have." "All the hard work it's all worth while-- once you see one leave and the smiling faces," said Kathleen Hacker with Shelter Angels.
"Shelter Angels" sponsored animals not already spayed or neutered so they can have the procedures done for free at a local vets office.
