SHIAWASSEE COUNTY (WJRT) - (3/21/16) - The Shiawassee County Health Department has confirmed a positive case of norovirus can be linked to the Caledonia Township Applebee's.

Norovirus is a virus accompanied with stomach cramps, vomiting and diarrhea. You can get it from an infected person, contaminated food or water or contaminated surfaces.

Recently, several people reported getting sick on a website called 'iwaspoisoned.com' after eating at the Applebee's.

An investigation by the Shiawassee County Health Department led to interviews with 30 people who reported norovirus symptoms after eating at Applebee's between March 9 and 12. One case was tested and confirmed as norovirus.

The health department says Applebee's is fully cooperating with the investigation, going above and beyond typical sanitary measures. Applebee's confirms with ABC12 that the entire restaurant has been scrubbed down and de-sanitized.

The health department says no new reported cases have been reported outside of the March 9-12 window.

Anyone with questions or concerns is asked to call the Shiawassee County Health Department.
