Ribbon cutting held for new Hurley Children's Center

FLINT (WJRT) - (08/07/15) - A new medical clinic for children will soon be ready to see its first patients.

The Hurley Children's Center is located on the second floor at the south end of the Flint Farmers' Market.

That's where the ribbon was cut Friday morning.

The $2 million facility has 12 pediatric specialty clinics and 23 exam rooms.

Being downtown, it will be easier for many children to get the medical attention they need.

"We really believe we hit a sweet spot when the decision was made to incorporate this clinic into the Farmers' Market. Not only is there nothing like it in the rest of the country, but the innovation of having access to care with access to nutritious food and all of the other wrap around services, all in one place, is a distinct advantage when you consider the advancement of health," said Melany Gavulic, Hurley Medical Center president.

The clinic officially opens Tuesday, Aug. 11.
