Born in Hillsdale, Randy grew up near Reading, Michigan. He graduated from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism.
He lives in Flushing with his wife. Both of his children are graduates of Michigan State University.
Randy's hobbies include leathercraft, hunting and anything related to aviation.
Randy began his broadcasting career as News Director of WMPC Radio in Lapeer. He also spent two years at WTRX Radio in Flint as a Reporter. Then it was on to Kalamazoo as a Reporter and Photographer at WKZO-TV.
He has also worked as a video producer for General Motors and Hurley Medical Center in Flint.
Randy is a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association in Flushing. He's very active at Mayfair Bible Church in Mount Morris Township.
Throughout his career, Randy has received numerous awards for his work, including a first-place award from the Michigan Associated Press for spot news photography in 1995.
