FLINT (WJRT) -

(08/24/11) - Four days, four shooting deaths in Genesee County.  Three of them were in Flint.

Last year, the city hit a record number of homicides at 66.

So far this year, that number already stands near 40 with three full months to go.

This latest stretch follows what could have been considered a slight lull in violent, deadly crime in the city of Flint.

Standing at the corner of Ruth and MLK, on the city's northside, Ms. Kincaid admits she sometimes fears for her safety.

The area is not far from where Flint's most recent murder occurred, in the 3900 block of MLK, Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to reports of a man down.  An adult male was found dead.  His name has not been released.

Police have not yet identified Monday's victim either.  He was found in the 13000 block of West Carpenter Road.

In Mt. Morris Township, Tuesday night, a friend found Cartilla Miller, 40, shot and dead inside his home on Camiella.

Michael Betz lives nearby, says he didn't hear a thing.

"No. I didn't."

Police believe Miller may have been dead for at least two days.  He was last seen alive Sunday night.

Sunday morning, a deadly, double shooting in the 100 block of East Pierson in Flint.

Robert Alexander, 38, was killed. Marquelle Coleman, 19, remains in critical condition.

"We just gotta pray for our young people. go to the altar and keep them lifted up in prayer," Kincaid says.
