(10/06/11) - Student count day has come and gone. It was a mix of good and bad news for Flint Community Schools.
According to Flint Community Schools officials, the district lost students. But not as many as they had projected.
Flint Community Schools Superintendent Linda Thompson says the district lost 776 students, but less than expected. "We are under what we normally have which range anywhere to 1,100 -1,600 kids," she said.
Thompson says a smaller dip in the numbers may signify a turn around for Flint Community Schools. "I sure hope this is a light at the end of the tunnel, because it's been a long period of time we have been struggling with student loses," Thompson said.
