(01/27/12) - The homes of four veterans in Genesee County will be fixed up through a program operated by Habitat for Humanity and Home Depot.
Up to $10,000 will be spent on each of the homes selected.
The money will be used to buy building material. The labor will come from volunteers.
The program will cover a variety of home improvements like roofing repairs, weather stripping and the installation of wheelchair ramps.
"We have been speaking with veteran groups over the past few months. We see a large need for this program. We are one of 35 Habitat for Humanity affiliates around the nation doing a pilot program with this," said Ryan Johnson of Habitat for Humanity.
If you're interested in applying for the repair program, contact Ryan Johnson of the Genesee County Habitat for Humanity at 810-766-9089, extension 4. Or, email Johnson at rjohnson@geneseehabitat.org.
