
(01/27/12) - They have protested for the last four months, occupying cities across the nation.
But Friday night, Occupy Flint took their movement indoors to discuss the communities most telling problems.
Occupy Flint took their message inside Friday night to welcome the community to participate in their first General Assembly. Shadee Ameer is one of the people who organized the forum. "Let's a have a real conversation which will lead to real results spanning the equation."
At times during the conversation, the audience used non-verbal hand gestures, when they agree or disagreed with the speaker. One of the main topics that continues to draw attention is Public Act Four. They fear their rights and their power now have limited power.
"We can chose our laws, we can enact our own laws, we can representative for us who enforce those laws and implement those laws, the Emergency Financial Manager bill strips us of all of those," said one occupier.
"I'm extremely glad we have a state takeover here," said another.
Occupy Flint invited Mayor Dayne Walling to participate. "I think it's really encouraging that we have people paying attention in the city, and raising their voice, that's what the democrat process is all about."
