MICHIGAN (WJRT) -
(02/06/12) - The American Red Cross hopes a change in policy will bring in more blood donations.
The organization has lifted its 12-month deferral period on would-be donors with new tattoos.
The need for blood donations is always high, but a new policy might bring more donors into Red Cross facilities.
Getting rid of the waiting list creates a larger pool of donors, and that's good news for Red Cross chapters in the state.
The math is simple. More donors means a greater blood supply and that means more lives saved.
