GENESEE COUNTY (WJRT) -
(02/09/12) - Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton says a state police led task force, operating in Flint and focused on Internet crimes against children, will view images recovered in the infant sex case.
Daniel and Alisha Hall, of Mt. Morris, are accused of sexually abusing their then 6-month-old daughter.
Specifically, Daniel is accused of engaging in the sex acts while his wife recorded it.
Leyton calls the case "as bad as it gets."
"We have a lot of charges. The most serious charge is criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, of a young child, which is a mandatory minimum upon conviction of 25 years in prison. It's a very serious charge, but with these types of facts it's certainly the charge that we had to bring," Leyton says.
The baby is the youngest sexual assault victim Leyton can recall.
Police started investigating the Halls following a tip from a Birch Run couple claiming Daniel and Alisha contacted them, on a swinger's website, and at one point wanted to involve a child.
Court documents show an undercover officer chatted with Daniel, in January, on a social networking website, and Daniel said, "...that he is into kiddies and his wife is a little too."
As the investigation progressed, police found more than 700 hundreds child pornographic images on the Hall's camera and computer equipment.
Leyton says there were still images and video.
Thirteen images, according to investigators, involve Daniel Hall performing sexual acts on his then 6-month-old daughter.
Alisha Hall, the baby's mother, recorded and took pictures, according to police. She is now pregnant, according to police.
Their baby, now 9-months-old, is in protective custody.
Neighbors, ABC12 spoke with, were absolutely sickened.
"I mean, we have 13 grandchildren," says neighbor Ralph Secquer.
He and his wife Janet live across the street from the Halls, in the 600 block of Roosevelt.
The Secquer's say they didn't even know the couple had a baby.
"It makes me sick to my stomach. I couldn't even sleep last night," Janet says.
"He's just been strange. Strange people," says Ralph.
Daniel even has a personal YouTube channel featuring short clips of himself and a website claiming to be "The Internet's # 1 Spot for Weird Humor."
There's a bizarre family tie.
Daniel's father is Jack Hall.
He is serving time in prison, convicted of several crimes in Genesee County dating back to the early 1990s including kidnapping, attempted murder, and also accusations of sexual assault of two sisters along a Clio bike path.
Daniel's attorney declined to comment as he says he has not yet seen any police reports.
