(02/20/12) - Feb. 21 is Fat Tuesday and that means it's time to make the doughnuts, or better yet, the paczkis.
Donna's Donuts workers in Flint Township are busy working overnight, getting ready for the rush of customers wanting to indulge in the sweet treat on the final day before Lent.
The round, jelly and calorie filled pastry is usually topped with sugar or icing.
Traditionally, paczki day started because of the need to use up lard, sugar and eggs prior to Lent.
Now, shops like Donna's stock up to fulfill the annual craving.
For the record, one paczki, on average, has about 420 calories and 25 grams of fat.
