(02/21/12) - With just one week to go before the Republican Presidential Primary, Mitt Romney is back stumping for votes in his home state. He also took some time to speak exclusively to ABC12's Ted Fioraliso.
Romney has been hitting the ground hard in Michigan since polls started showing Rick Santorum ahead of Romney or in close second.
Romney spoke to supporters at Eagle Manufacturing Corporation in Shelby Township, Macomb County on Tuesday. The former Massachusetts governor walked out onto a circular stage and spoke for about 10 minutes. He then spent another half-hour answering questions from the audience.
Romney said he was happy to be back in his home state, and said his heart breaks for what's happened to Michigan's economy.
A new Gallup poll out Tuesday shows Romney trailing Rick Santorum by ten points nationally. But Romney did not bash Rick Santorum during his speech, instead, he focused his attacks on President Obama. Romney said Washington doesn't understand how the real world works.
Romney says he's going to spend the last week before the Michigan Primary talking about taxes, spending, and the country's long-term obligations.
The Republican Presidential Primary in Michigan and Arizona is scheduled for Feb. 28.
