Speaker banned from Sacred Heart to take stage at CMU

MT. PLEASANT (WJRT) -

(04/30/12) - He may not be able to deliver the commencement speech at his alma mater in Mount Pleasant because he is gay, but Dominic Sheahan-Stahl will take the stage on the campus of Central Michigan University.

Dominic will speak May 20 at the university. It's the same day he was supposed to deliver a graduation speech at Sacred Heart Academy.

However, last week the school pulled the invite because it was discovered he was gay.

The lead administrator of Sacred Heart Academy said he was trying to abide by the laws and teachings of the church.

Dominic says he will still attend his brother's Sacred Heart graduation ceremony.
