Saginaw hotel to be demolished

Posted: Updated:
SAGINAW (WJRT) -

(05/03/12) - A Saginaw hotel will be demolished after several owners have tried and failed to make the business a success.

The former Saginaw Plaza Hotel is now owned by the Saginaw County Land Bank, and the plan is to knock the building down and make a parking lot in its place.

The building sits across the street from the Saginaw County Event Center.

The hotel has had several owners over the last three decades, but because of a number of factors, including a lack of upgrades to compete with new hotels, the owners could not make it work.

There is no set date on when the demolition will begin.
