FLINT (WJRT) -

(06/13/12) - Thursday morning, President Barack Obama will sign an initiative that will make broadband faster and cheaper.

Flint's own Kettering University is among the first 60 universities to try out the new technology.

The school is a part of a national test run that will eventually be a part of more communities.

The increased connection will allow for more efficient experiments and could even aid in workforce development.

Kettering plans to use the innovation to explore renewable energy and advanced manufacturing.

President Obama says "...building a nationwide broadband network will strengthen our economy and put more Americans back to work."
