Gaines woman dies in motorcycle crash

INGHAM COUNTY (WJRT) -

(06/24/12) - The Ingham County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly motorcycle crash that occurred on Saturday night. 

71 year-old Nancy Sanders of Williamston was westbound on Grand River east of M-52 in Leroy Twp. when she turned into the path of an eastbound motorcycle.

Sanders was not injured in the crash. 

The driver of the motorcycle, 26-year-old John Sturgis of Gaines, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to Sparrow Hospital with non-life threatening injury. His passenger and wife, 28-year-old Tara Sturgis of Gaines was killed when she was ejected from the motorcycle. She was wearing a helmet.

Alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Ingham County Sheriff Accident Investigators are still investigating.

Tara Sturgis appeared many times on ABC12. She was with the Genesee County Humane Society and introduced you to countless dogs, cats and other animals for the last several years.
