(07/09/12) - There is new information for Flint residents, regarding the special assessment fee they'll be paying for the street lights.
Property owners can expect a letter from the city, which is being sent out this week.
The letter explains the need for the fee and exemptions for low income residents.
The total cost of city lighting is about $2.85 million.
In the past, that bill has been paid for by the General Fund, but that same amount could keep 25 police officers on the streets.
So rather than take it from the General Fund again, they're asking residents to contribute.
The cost is about $66 per parcel, per year.
