(07/12/12) - Need in Mid-Michigan doesn't take a summer vacation.
That's why Salvation Army is celebrating Christmas in July.
For the next week or so, the Red Kettles will be out at various Kmart stores
across Genesee County.
The Army is doing a little warm weather collecting to help fund its summer camps
and after-school programs for kids.
Aside from Kmart, kettles and bell ringers will also be out at the Flint
Farmers' Market this weekend and next.
"It's an awesome time of year. We don't usually have this in the winter. The
great thing is we're raising money for kids, and we're doing it in a variety of
ways," said Connie Peters, of the Salvation Army.
Also, Thursday at the Genesee Valley Center Cinnabon shop, 20 percent of bun box
sales will go toward the Christmas in July campaign.
