GENESEE COUNTY (WJRT) -
(07/16/12) - Our hot and sweaty weather isn't keeping everyone inside.
Some teens are playing baseball right through this heat wave, but they're making sure to stay healthy.
Scorching temperatures don't mean it's too hot to hit a home run at Kearsley High School.
"It kills, it's like death out here, especially when you run around and play catcher, but it's fun," said Mitch Judd, a Kearsley teen who doesn't mind playing in this heat.
They're playing both hard and smart.
Moms are making sure their boys don't overdo it, and have been keeping them healthy from the sidelines.
"Lots of water, Gatorade for the kids, making sure they stay hydrated is important, usually we have a lot of shade, not so much today," said Melissa Robinson, who was helping her son stay healthy.
But not everyone is in the mood to work up a sweat.
Some are looking for something a little chillier to beat the heat.
Ice cream shops say they've been steady all day Monday with people looking to stay cool.
"Just stay in the house, go swimming, take her out for ice cream, go to McDonald's and let her play, it's cool in there," said Tim Fletcher while he took his daughter for ice cream.
