MID-MICHIGAN (WJRT) -
(07/17/12) - Hot weather is uncomfortable for most of us, but it can be especially dangerous for seniors and young children.
Many are trying to beat the heat at libraries, malls and cooling centers.
A number of senior centers extended their hours, hoping those without air conditioning would stop by and cool down.
The Clio-area cooling center has seen a steady number of people come in to beat the heat all day long.
You don't have to be a senior to stop by - anyone can come in and get a cool drink and enjoy the air conditioning.
Many senior centers are closing around 5, but Clio's is open until 9 Tuesday for anyone needing relief.
Genesee County first responders are trying to make sure everyone is safe during this heat wave.
If you know a Genesee County senior who might have health problems in this heat, call the sheriff department at 810-257-3422. They'll send a paramedic to make sure they're OK.
