MSP Trooper convicted of drunken driving

Posted: Updated:

(7/17/12) - A Michigan State Police trooper was convicted of a drunken driving charge and could get jail time.

On Tuesday, a circuit court judge in Saginaw County convicted suspended MSP Trooper John Beemer of causing an accident resulting in serious injury.

Beemer was acquitted of the "Super Drunk" charge tied to having a blood alcohol level of .17 at the time.

Investigators say on Jan. 1, the off duty trooper drove his pick-up truck through a stop sign in Thomas Township.

He slammed into a car, and four people were injured.

Beemer is free on bond, and will be sentenced.
