(07/18/12) - A teenager was arrested for stealing 11 pistols from a gun store in Saginaw County early Wednesday morning.
Police say he was intending to sell those guns for drug money.
This isn't the first time Bare's Sports Shop has been broken into. We spoke with the owners earlier Wednesday, and they say they're upgrading their security.
Police say a 16-year old boy broke into the store early Wednesday morning. He smashed through the glass and stole 11 semi-automatic pistols.
A witness contacted police, and within a few hours, deputies caught up with him at his home and made the arrest.
Police believe he wanted to sell the guns in the city of Saginaw for drug money.
The Saginaw Sheriff and the St. Charles chief say they have a history with the teen. He's in custody, and they're hoping he faces adult charges.
"It's not like you run into a 16-year-old individual and say, 'Boy, I want to hammer him right down with adult charges.' This is someone we're familiar with and obviously the juvenile justice system at this point hasn't been effective in this young man's life," said Saginaw County Sheriff William Federspiel.
Whether or not this teen will face adult charges is up to the county prosecutor. Police are still investigating Wednesday's break-in.
