(07/19/12) - A three-on-three basketball tournament to be held Friday and Saturday in Flint is a fundraiser for a new scholarship program.
The scholarship fund will honor Kevin Berger, who was the first murder victim in Flint in 2012.
Berger was known for mentoring young people, and the money raised will be used on children's sports.
"The money will be spent to get different activities for these kids, get back to how it was when we grew up. That's the main thing, to get other opportunities and other activities, basketball, soccer, whatever the sport or whatever the case is to raise a ton of money to get kids active, how it was when we grew up," said Mateen Cleaves, Scholarship fund organizer.
The three-on-three basketball tournament for the Kevin Berger Scholarship Fund will be held at Jackson Park in Flint.
There's still time for teams to enter.
