(07/21/12) - A unique competition came to Saginaw Township Saturday morning.

Survival Fitness in Saginaw Township hosted the first-ever 'Survival Fitness Summer Open'.

More than 50 athletes from around the state took part.

They competed in a sport known as CrossFit. It's described as a strength and conditioning program that is constantly varied, with high intensity, and functional movement. Bottom-line, CrossFit draws exercises from several different disciplines.

The competition at Survival Fitness comes just one week after the national CrossFit Games were held in Carson, Calif.
