(07/25/12) - The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan will have a little more food on its shelves thanks to employees and members of area credit unions.
Officials from Security Credit Union handed over a check Wednesday morning for $1,000.
For the past three weeks, credit union members were asked to donate to the cause.
Employees also dug deep into their pockets.
Security says it only makes sense to help the agency that can make life better for so many people in the area.
"Obviously the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan provides for a need in this community, and because of our support of the community, we want to give back to the community. We could think of no greater initiative than to provide for the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan," said Security Credit Union President Christopher Estes.
Thirteen credit unions participated in the summer campaign called "Hunger Doesn't Take a Vacation."
