(07/25/12) - With a busy August just around the corner, Downtown Flint is preparing a new way to honor its past.
Crews have blocked off a section of the flat lot on Saginaw Street to build the new auto industry memorial.
The Greener Side Lawn and Landscaping have the base down and are just about ready to start laying the memorial bricks that served as a fundraiser for the memorial.
Its grand opening, and the unveiling of a bronze Louis Chevrolet statue, will take place during Back to the Bricks next month.
Greener Side owner Kevin Griffin says he's honored to be a part of the project.
Back to the Bricks runs Aug. 13-19.
