(07/31/12) - Less than 100 days remain before the November election. As the presidential race heats up, so to does support for the candidates.

A new state wide EPIC/MRA poll shows President Barack Obama in the lead against Republican candidate Mitt Romney, the likely nominee.

600 people were sampled statewide for this latest survey. There's a 4 percent margin of error.

Fifty-five percent give President Barack Obama a negative rating on his job performance. Forty-four percent say he's doing a good job. Forty-nine percent say they like President Obama as a person.

Republican candidate and former Governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney also polled. Forty percent of those surveyed give Romney a favorable opinion, but 48 percent give him an unfavorable opinion.

If the election was held now, 48 percent of Michigan voters pick President Obama to win the White House while 42 percent chose Gov. Romney.
