(08/08/12) - A major shake-up out of Lansing Wednesday left the city of Flint under the direction of a new emergency financial manager.
Mike Brown is out and former emergency manager Ed Kurtz is in.
In his new role as EFM, Kurtz will appoint Mike Brown as City Administrator during city's transition from Public Act 4 to Public 72.
On Brown's last day on the job, he signed off on a resolution that could generate millions for public safety.
"One of the resolution I signed today was to put six mills on the ballot for the November election for public safety," Brown said. "Citizens will have a voice in what level do they want to fund their police and fire department."
The resolution goes hand in hand with another public safety executive order signed by Mike Brown.
Brown signed a contract with the county for the Sheriff's Department to run the lockup.
Brown will help with the transition from Public Act 4 to Public Act 72, which gives the mayor and City Council some power.
The city council will hold a special city council meeting on Thursday at 5:30 inside Flint city council chambers to discuss the changes.
Ed Kurtz will meet with his staff at city hall on Monday, Aug. 13 at the regularly scheduled management team meeting.
