FLINT (WJRT) -

(08/12/12) - A brutal pit bull attack sent a man to the hospital Sunday afternoon.

Flint police say two pit bulls were chasing a small child outside a home in the 1300 block of Root St. around 3 p.m. The child's uncle went to stop the dogs.

The uncle was then attacked by one of the dogs. He was taken to the hospital. His condition is not known at this time.

The child's mother tells ABC12 her son is OK. She also says the dogs escaped through a neighbor's fence.

Flint police shot and killed the dog during the attack.

The shooting was the second dog shooting for Flint Police Sunday. An officer shot and killed a pit bull mix around 10 a.m. after it attacked him.
