(08/14/12) - The big 'Back to the Bricks' event Tuesday is "Bricks and Flicks". The US-23 Drive In opens at 5 p.m. for cruisers and a free screening of Footloose.
Drive-in night is always packed with classic cars, and Tuesday, you might even spot a celebrity car or two.
Tom Brown and his son Brien Lord are bringing out all their big boy toys for Back to the Bricks.
"I've got a '69 roadrunner, a '56 Pontiac Safari, a '50 Buick Convertible," Brown said.
But none of them compares to a replica talking KITT car from the '80s TV show Knight Rider. The car features William Daniels, KITT's original voice, and he's ready to put on a show.
"I remember going to an auto show when I was a kid at the IMA, and I got to sit in a KITT car and have my picture taken, and he talked to me. I've wanted one ever since, and my dad remembered and bought me a Trans Am," Lord said.
Brien and his dad have spent months customizing the 1983 Trans Am for its Bricks debut. It's definitely faster than the TV version.
"We put an LSD3 Corvette motor in it, 527 horse at the motor and 380 horse power at the rear wheel," Lord said.
KITT's a work in progress. When he's all finished, a voice sensor will activate 4,800 phrases from the TV show.
"Anytime someone gives it one of my commands, like 'Hi, KITT, how are you doing?', it'll respond back," Lord said.
With KITT on the Bricks this week, there's only one thing missing.
"The Hoff. I've been trying to get him come and take it for a test spin, but he won't return my calls," Lord said.
