(08/14/12) - Summer may be winding down, but road construction is just getting started in one part of Genesee County.
The Genesee County Road Commission began work Tuesday on their biggest project of the summer. The $2 million job involves re-doing a big stretch of Linden Road, from Calkins Road up to Beecher Road.
The project is expected to be completed around the end of October.
In the meantime, officials at Carman Ainsworth High School have been meeting with road commission representatives trying to figure out how the move will affect their busing. Carman Ainsworth Assistant Superintendent, Russ Parks, says there's not much the school can do, and hopefully a few inconvenient months will be worth it when the job is finished.
Meanwhile, some people who live on Linden Road have had their mailboxes temporarily moved to Beecher Road.
Linden Road is open during construction, but traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction. Calkins Road is closed for a short stretch to the east of Linden Road. Once that side is done, it will be closed for a short stretch of the west of Linden Road. The Calkins Road part of the project should be finished around Labor Day.
