(08/15/12) - Genesee County's Community Mental Health system could be completely restructured, and Wednesday, residents had a chance to weigh in.
The County of Board of Commissioners is considering changing the Community Mental Health system from a branch of county government into a more independent authority.
Mental Health systems across the state are being reformed, and the board says if Genesee County's doesn't become independent, it could be forced to consolidate with another community.
If that happens, the board and residents are afraid services and local control would be lost.
The commission chair also says if the system is not made into an independent authority, it could end up costing more money.
