(08/24/12) - In a matter of hours, thousands of runners, walkers and wheelers will be crowding onto Saginaw Street for Flint's Crim Festival of Races.
It's the 36th year, and this year there are a few changes you'll want to know about before you hit the bricks.
The first change, participants will actually see when they pick up their race packets.
The plastic bag will feel much lighter because the Crim is actually emailing participants a virtual packet this year.
They'll get the same coupons, information and freebies, but they'll get it delivered right to their computer.
It's a way for the Crim to follow the racing trend to be as green as possible.
Also new this year, you'll notice a letter on your bib along with your number, and that will tell you where you line up to start.
For the first time, the race, which has struggled with a bottle neck for runners in the first few miles, will be starting in waves.
The five wave begins with the elite runners at 8 a.m. and they'll go in a few minute increments after that.
Of course, everyone has the micro-chip on their bib, so this should actually help their time because it should cut down on the crowd at the starting line.
