(08/30/12) - The Corunna School District will honor a former football player Thursday who was killed while serving in Afghanistan.
Private First Class Shane Cantu was killed this week when his base was attacked. The 20 year old had only been in Afghanistan less than a month.
He joined the service because he loved being part of a team.
The first remembrance for Shane will take place at Thursday's varsity football game at St. Johns.
There will also be a candlelight vigil at the Corunna football field Friday night at 8.
