Pastors hold rally for peace, justice in parking lot where Milton Hall was shot

SAGINAW (WJRT) -

(09/02/12) - Nine weeks ago, Milton Hall, a homeless man, was shot to death by police. Sunday, the community was pleading for answers.

Hundreds met Sunday in the same spot where hall was shot in July. Their message: there is power in numbers.

It was a dramatically different scene from Riverview Plaza back on July 1 when nearby shoppers watched six police officers shoot at Hall 46 times.

Police say hall was holding a knife and acting aggressively.

"Based on what I heard at the scene, I feel comfortable the officers acted appropriately," former Saginaw police chief Gerald Cliff said the day of the shooting.

But we've been waiting for official answers ever since, and the community is getting restless as the weeks pass.

The case was then thrust into the national spotlight. CNN aired shocking cell phone video a couple weeks ago, catching the attention of Rev. Jesse Jackson. He came to Saginaw on Friday.

"We need relief, emergency relief," he said.

And that's exactly why pastors and citizens were still rallying Sunday.

"We're here to stay and we're not going to go away until change comes," said Ajhani Owusu, who saw the shooting happen.

The prosecutor says we could finally have answers by the end of the week.
