(09/11/12) - Dozens of General Motors employees spent Tuesday morning volunteering their time at the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan in Flint.
It's all part of GM's Week of Caring.
This is the first year for the nationwide initiative with more than 4,000 employees participating.
Projects include building houses and cleaning up rivers, along with bagging and distributing groceries for people in need.
The Food Bank staff says they appreciate the extra help.
"We can't do what we do without our volunteer support. Whether it's with the pounds, helping with clerical duties or stocking shelves, everything we do revolves around our volunteer support," said Megan Buysse of the Food Bank of Easter Michigan.
In all, GM employees will assist in 110 community service projects over the course of the week.
