GENESEE COUNTY (WJRT) -
(09/12/12) - Charges will be announced Thursday in the 1993 murder of Wanda Musk.
Musk's body was found in a field in Genesee Township. She had been sexually assaulted.
As ABC12 has previously reported, DNA evidence matched a person already in prison.
Musk's Aunt and guardian, Carol Mast, says the family never gave up hope.
"We figured DNA would eventually solve this case," Mast says.
Mast, who now lives back near Muskegon, says she will be in Flint when the details are announced Thursday.
She says the family was told about the DNA match in January.
"When we were given the name (of the suspect), we had never heard of him. No idea who he was."
Musk, a Kearsley High School graduate, was attending Mott Community College back in November of 1993.
She was also working at a convenience store.
Her body, naked and bruised, was found in a field in Genesee Township.
Mast says the family feels relief, but does have mixed emotions.
Mast praised police who refused to quit the case.
Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton will announce charges Thursday. A press conference is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
