SAGINAW (WJRT) -

(09/14/12) - There were two murders in Saginaw on Aug. 29, and now arrests have been made in both cases.

Six-year-old Layla Jones was hit by gunfire that night, just hours after 21-year-old Bobby Bailey was killed.

Three of four suspects in the Jones killing were arrested last week, and now, the suspect in the Bailey murder has been arrested.

Police say they need cooperation from the community in helping solve murders, and they got that cooperation in the Jones and Bailey homicides.

Saginaw County District Court Judge Terry Clark read off the criminal charges against 19-year-old Greg Lee. He's accused of killing 21-year-old Bobby Bailey.

Police believe the two young men got into an argument on Dillon Street on the north east side of Saginaw, before Lee pulled out a gun and shot Bailey.

Bailey's murder is linked to the shooting death of 6-year-old Layla Jones, who was shot several hours later, in the same neighborhood. She was standing in a group of people in a driveway of a home on Essling Street.

"After Mr. Bailey's homicide, it appears that later in the evening, a group that was upset about that shooting, rolled through that area where the homicide occurred and sought vengeance," said Brent VanderHaar, Saginaw Police Detective.

Lee is being held without bond. his aunt says her nephew is being held because of statements made by people who are trying to protect themselves.

"My nephew didn't have anything to do with nothing," she said. "What do you got my nephew on except word of mouth ... who probably trying to get themselves out of trouble because they probably did it ... I ain't trying to hear that, no bond, that's bull."

But VanderHaar says there is enough solid evidence to arrest Lee. "We received some help from the community, with witnesses, and some calls to Crime Stoppers, I believe, that led us in the right direction."

While three of the four suspects in the Layla Jones case are in custody, police are still looking for Michael Lawrence. Police say he's considered armed, and extremely dangerous.
