Police in Flint investigating three homicides Sunday

FLINT (WJRT) -

(09/17/12) - Sunday was the city's second deadliest day of the year.

Three victims in a roughly 20 hour time period.

Sunday's youngest and third victim, 16, is pictured to the left.  A friend provided the photo.

Police were first called to the 1000 block of East York, near Industrial, about 1 a.m.

31-year-old Roderick Garner had been shot, in the head, in a vehicle. A woman was also shot, but treated at a hospital and released.

People at a home nearby say they were holding a memorial for Levi Brazzil, murdered Wednesday, on Richfield Road, when Garner was killed. Police confirm a possible suspect connection in the Brazzil and Garner homicides.

Then just before 7 a.m., police were called to the corner of Lawndale and Pasadena.

21-year-old Devincio Lewis had been shot multiple times and was in critical condition. He later died.

Police were called to the corner of West Home and Glenn just before 8 p.m.  A teenager had been shot and then struck by a vehicle. The driver did not stop.

"I heard a shot. Then I went out and looked out my kitchen window and I didn't see nothing. Then I come look out my front window and I see him walking and fell," says a woman who did not want to be identified.

"He tried to get up and a car hit him. And he still try to move and by that time I went to call police and other cars was coming up," she says.

The 16 year old died.  Police did not release his name.

At last check, police were still not sure if it was the shot or being struck that killed him.  Investigators were waiting for autopsy results.

Friends, gathered at a makeshift memorial Monday night, said the teen was in the eleventh grade at Flint Northwestern.

Before Sunday, Flint last saw three homicides in one day on July 18. Three people were shot and killed inside of a home on Tacken.  One of the victim's brothers has been charged.
