Two teens in custody in connection with July armed robbery

Posted: Updated:

(09/21/12) - Police say two 18-year-old males are in custody. No charges have been issued.

Sources tell ABC12, one of the teens is the quarterback for Flint Northwestern High School.

Flint Community Schools Spokesman Bob Campbell confirms the player was suspended from the team Friday, pending the outcome of the investigation into a disciplinary matter.

The arrests of the teens stem from an alleged incident outside of a Flint party store July 30.

"There was two black guys with pistols," says Clifford Adams. He's from Saginaw, but says he was in Flint, at the Clio Road Market, that night.

Adams says he was trying to buy more minutes for his cell phone when the two approached him.

"I said, 'I ain't got no money.' So he (one of the suspects) grabbed my wallet. Once he grabbed my wallet, he took off running," Adams says.

The store has surveillance pictures. Police pulled them and released them Thursday night.

Both teens had turned themselves in to police by early Friday afternoon.
