(09/29/12) - A 47-year-old Huron County man has been arrested in connection with a lengthy drug investigation.
The case all unfolded Friday night, and centers around the designer drug called 'bath salts'.
According to the Huron County Sheriff, one of the locations police searched was the Maple Lane Discount Store in Verona Township.
The sheriff says several items were taken from the store during the raid, including records, documents, packaging and manufacturing materials, computers, recording equipment, cash and other related materials.
Before bath salts and other designer drugs were made illegal in Michigan, that store had been broken into several times with thieves breaking in to steal the drugs.
The second raid took place at a home in the 1000 block of Beech Street in Bad Axe.
Deputies called in the Drug Enforcement Agency to help investigate after finding what Sheriff Kelly Hanson calls "large quantities of hazardous materials".
The 47-year-old man who was arrested has not been identified, but remains behind bars on a $100,000 cash bond. He was arrested during a traffic stop around the same time the two search warrants were being executed.
