(10/01/12) - Flint's lockup is now open, after being closed since 2008.
Major Phil Hart, with the Genesee County Sheriff's Department, says it opened at 7 a.m. Monday.
The Genesee County Sheriff's Department is running the holding facility, which is housed inside the Flint Police Department.
The state of Michigan is paying for the more than $2 million one-year contract.
Hart says the first inmate was brought in at about 8 a.m. by Flint Police officers.
