(10/04/12) - It's been more than five years since a fire damaged the famed Lebowsky Center in downtown Owosso.
Thursday, those who have been working so hard to rebuild it celebrated a major milestone in the reconstruction process - phase three.
"Phase three is the finishing of the interior. The finishing of the walls, the placing of the seats, the finishing of the stage so that we are ready to once again perform in this historic theatre," said Cheryl Peterson, with the committee to rebuild the Lebowsky Center.
The group recently secured a loan to pay for the rest of the construction. They've been fundraising as well.
Interior construction should last about one year, Peterson says. They hope to start this winter.
If all goes as planned, the Lebowsky Center could be back open by the end of 2013.
