'Safe Routes to School' held at Saginaw elementary

Posted: Updated:

(10/08/12) - Making good lifestyle choices was the message behind an event at Saginaw's Stone Elementary Monday.

Students were encouraged to walk or ride their bike to school. Parents were also invited.

Once they made it to school, they enjoyed a healthy breakfast, and then walked a few laps around the school.

Organizers hope the 'Safe Routes to School' event leads kids toward a healthy path in life.

School leaders say the timing for this event couldn't be better. MEAP testing starts this week, and kids will need all the help they can get to focus.
