(10/10/12) - An island in the Saginaw Bay is on fire.
The Department of Natural Resources say the fire on Heisterman Island was first spotted around 5:30 Tuesday night.
It sits offshore from the Caseville-area, in Huron County.
The DNR says right now, the fire is being allowed to burn. That's because it's primarily burning an invasive plant.
In all, nearly 130 acres had burned at last check.
The DNR says Tuesday night's rain helped put out some of the flames.
Heisterman Island is state-owned land, often used for hunting. There are no homes on the island.
Fire officials don't have any idea how the fire started just yet.
