(10/11/12) - It's an event that makes lending a helping hand a lot easier.
Hands On Genesee hosted its fourth annual Volunteer Expo Thursday afternoon at
the University of Michigan-Flint.
The folks with Hands On Genesee say a lot of times, people want to help, but
they have no idea how to get the ball rolling.
The event is one-stop shopping for potential volunteers.
Until 7 p.m. Thursday, more than 40 charities and nonprofit organizations were
hand at University of Michigan-Flint's University Center.
All the organizations had a booth set up, so people could stop by and check them
out.
They had well-known nonprofits such as Big Brothers, Big Sisters and the
Salvation Army, right down to smaller nonprofits, such as Abilities First - a
group that helps disabled people with ceramics and crafts.
Last year they saw 400 people at the expo. This year, they hoped to see even
more.
