(10/12/12) - The drug heroin continues to be a problem in Genesee County.
That according to police working to keep it off of the streets.
"We've seen a steady increase in heroin in Genesee County, in the Flint area, in the last year," says Detective F/Lt. Pat Richard. He's section commander of the multi-jurisdictional Flint Area Narcotics Group, or FANG.
He says officers are working heroin deals on a daily basis - sometimes multiple times a day.
"It's just a never ending supply it seems," Richard says.
The drug is relatively inexpensive. About $20 for one-tenth of a gram of heroin, he says. That's one dose.
"There just seems to be more of it out there now," Richard says.
