(10/16/12) - A Saginaw park is getting ready for something it hasn't seen in a decade - ice skating.
Friends of Hoyt Park were busy Tuesday morning taking down the outfield fences of two baseball diamonds to make room for an ice rink.
Ice skating at the park was very popular until budget cuts a decade ago brought an end to the winter time fun.
Last year, the group was able to raise enough money to renovate the warming house.
"We've got the lower level renovated now, we put about $400,000 into the renovation of that. And now we have the heat and the brand new bathrooms in that so now we're set to have heat for the winter time so we should be able to bring the ice skating back," said Larry Brethauer, president of Friends of Hoyt Park.
They hope to have the water in place by the first week of January so it can freeze.
